Hinamatsuri - Girls Day 2025
"Hinamatsuri" or Girls' Day takes place every year on March 3! It was originally a Japanese custom that was thought to bring a peaceful and prosperous marriage to young women, however, Girls' Day has become a very popular tradition in Hawaii that celebrates all the special girls and women in your life!
Families bring out and display their collection of beautiful kokeshi dolls (like the one featured on this tee), and often times girls will receive additional dolls for their collection. Hishi mochi (diamond-shaped sweetened rice cakes) is often enjoyed, along with flowers and other thoughtful gifts.
We reached out to Mika Yamada, a talented local Hilo artist, to help us with our 2025 Girls' Day design. Her adorable illustrations come to life in her Etsy shop with the cutest keychains and stickers!
